  • I would buy another one - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This Jeep has very high miles, regular up keep no major problems, only ball joints at 175,000 miles, very comfortable ride, and everything still works. Always drove a Chevy, but thought I would try something else, glad I did, it has a v-8 and I get 24 average miles to the gallon according to the tripometer. The paint looks great everything is original except for the custom stereo.

  • Still Going Strong Great S - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have had a 1996 Limited Grand Cherokee since 2002. I like everything about it and it only has minor problems that need fixed. I have only had some major work on it done every few years usually the same stuff. This jeep stays outside year round in all weather conditions and it still gets me to point A and B without any problems. A jeep this age of course needs routine maintenance so its understandable when it has issues. I truly enjoy driving this jeep even today and I still have people ask me about it and people still comment it. I am sorry for all the owners out there that have had problems with theirs I will have this jeep till it stops running a truly great suv to own! Thanks Jeep

  • Piece of **** - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee

My first American car (and Ive had probably 8 or 9 foreign cars). I was always leery of buying an American car and that worry was definitly justified. I bought this p.o.* new and had problems with it within the first 15,000 miles. I should have sold it then but I thought that the problems would be over. Not so, they just increase exponentially with age. Im glad I have AAA as I have to call them for a tow at least once a year. I cant even delineate the number of mechanical engine repairs Ive paid for. Thank goodness, Im planning on trading it in tomorrow; any dealer is a fool to give me 2 cents for it but I have my fingers crossed.

  • Tired of this jeep - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I love this jeep but I am tired of having one thing after another go wrong. Ive had the transmission rebuilt, the motor in the rear door replaced, the rear window on the drivers side cant be rolled down because it doesnt like to go back up. Ive got an oil leak and am constantly putting oil into it. The AC leaks and has been recharged twice since Ive owned it. I recently had the fuel pump and distributor cap replaced along with the drive shaft. And its going back to the shop tomorrow to figure out what the loud "click click click" noise is that causes lots of staring, possibly the CV joint, who knows how much itll cost this time. I think its time for a trade in.

  • So far so good - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee

We bought our Jeep new and have had it for 7 years and 90,000 miles. It is a pleasure to drive, particularly in the snow or for towing a boat. We like the way it handles and the power of the V- 8. We have been diligent in doing the regular maintenance and so far we have had few problems. We have had to replace the rear main seal ($325) and valve covers to fix minor oil leaks ($100). We had a sensor or two go out (covered under warranty) and recently replaced the watter pump ($400) Other than that it has been a great car so far.

  • 96 Laredo 4X4 - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee

My Laredo has 186,000+ bought it for $1. Have had to replace about everything under hood. Normal wear and tear. Have had it for 5 yrs now and I love it. Been good to me. Went from VT to AZ spent 4 yrs their then AZ to VT again. Both ways towing a 4 wheel Uhal trailer. Not a hiccup or anything either way. I wouldnt try that with anything else. On our way back and forth we slept in the Jeep. The back is perfect size for two average sized people to sleep comfortably. LOVE MY JEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Better than the Last One - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

This is the second Grand Cherokee Larado we have owned. The last one was a totaly different car. This one has been a perfect gem. Even after all these miles, it has been very low maintanence. The only major problem was the computer went out with no warning. Only cost $600 to fix. Great cars but be careful what you buy..there are a bunch out there with problems.
